In this episode of Catalyst, Tammy is joined by Jimit Arora, CEO of Everest Group. Jimit’s career spans two decades with the firm, beginning as a senior analyst and growing through leadership roles before taking on the top job. What stands out most is his focus on culture and connection. Tammy and Jimit discuss the perma-crisis environment of corporate America, the psychological safety needed for innovation and why domain expertise matters less than curiosity.

Highlights from the episode include:

  • From knowledge work to wisdom work. While AI can institutionalize knowledge through language models, Jimit argues that humans will increasingly focus on wisdom work: applying judgment, experience and context that comes from making mistakes and learning over time.
  • PTSD blocks value. Organizations carry four forms of debt: Process, Tech, Skills and Data (PTSD). Retiring this PTSD is essential before any technology can deliver meaningful value. Technology is usually the easy part. Reinventing processes, making sure you have the right people and the right skills is where the hard work lies.
  • AI vegans are real. Not everyone is enthusiastic about AI. The term “AI vegans” describes people who are rejecting the technology. This resistance shows up as eye-rolling when AI is mentioned and reflects deeper fears about job displacement and loss of human connection.
