Roli spent her career moving between technology, consulting and strategy, with prior roles at McKinsey, Bain and Morgan Stanley. • The silicon paradox. Roli introduces a concept she calls the silicon paradox: the more we automate, the more human skills matter. With AI handling many routine tasks, the work that’s left requires human creativity and judgment.
• Bias helped humans survive. Bias is an evolutionary feature of the human brain; recognizing patterns helps us conserve energy. But because we’re wired for stereotyping and favoring those who are like-minded, it takes intentional effort to battle back and be inclusive.
• AI can be a reset button. A lot of organizations have outdated processes and technology that are held together by duct tape and prayers. AI offers a chance to rethink the status quo. What do we want our humans doing? What do we want machines doing? It’s an exciting time to work in technology because AI is that powerful.
