The hard work is yet to come: A conversation with David Armano

In this episode of Catalyst, Tammy welcomes back David Armano, Digital Solutions and Innovation Lead at Launch by NTT DATA. David has spent over two decades at the forefront of digital transformation. His career has spanned design, e-commerce, leading digital practices and working with conversational AI. Now at Launch, David is focused on what he calls the “intelligence economy.” He and Tammy dive into how AI is reshaping not just our tools but our minds, work and the very nature of human intelligence.
Highlights from the episode include:
- Gen X is cosmically wired for the AI age. Growing up as independent tinkerers and living through earlier tech disruptions gives Gen X a pragmatic lens on upskilling and adaptation. David reflects on his real-world experience of directing teams and delegating work and how that translates to interfacing with large language models.
- AI operates across three enterprise areas simultaneously. Unlike previous digital transformations that affected specific business functions, AI impacts product development, employee productivity and infrastructure systems all at once. That breadth requires companies to cross organizational silos, something many have historically struggled to do.
- Human interactions become more intentional in an AI world. As we spend more time with intelligent systems, face-to-face human connections become even more important. Leaders must be deliberate about when and how to meet in person because human collaboration serves a purpose that AI can’t replicate.
